چکیده

This paper is about minimum cost constrained selection of inputs and outputs in structured systems for generic arbitrary pole placement. The input-output set is constrained in the sense that the set of states that each input can influence and the set of states that each output can sense is pre-specified. Our goal is to optimally select an input-output set that the system has no structurally fixed modes. Polynomial time algorithms do not exist for solving this problem unless P = NP. To this end, we propose an approximation algorithm by splitting the problem in to three sub-problems: a) minimum cost accessibility problem, b) minimum cost sensability problem and c) minimum cost disjoint cycle problem. We prove that problems a) and b) are equivalent to the weighted set cover problem. We also show that problem c) can be solved using a minimum cost perfect matching algorithm. Using these, we give an approximation algorithm which solves the minimum cost generic arbitrary pole placement problem. The proposed algorithm incorporates an approximation algorithm to solve the weighted set cover problem to solve a) and b) and a minimum cost perfect matching algorithm to solve c). Further, we show that the algorithm has polynomial complexity and gives an order optimal O(logn) approximate solution to the minimum cost input-output selection for generic arbitrary pole placement problem, where n denotes the number of states in the system.

Adaptive fuzzy pole placement for stabilization of non-linear systems

A new approach for pole placement of nonlinear systems using state feedback and fuzzy system is proposed. We use a new online fuzzy training method to identify and to obtain a fuzzy model for the unknown nonlinear system using only the system input and output. Then, we linearized this identified model at each sampling time to have an approximate linear time varying system. In order to stabilize...

Mismatching Problem between Generic Pole-assignabilities by Static Output Feedback and Dynamic Output Feedback in Linear Systems

In this paper, it is clearly shown that the two well-known necessary and sufficient conditions mp ≥ n as generic static output feedback pole-assignment and mp + d(m+p) ≥ n+d as generic minimum d-th order dynamic output feedback pole-assignment on complex field , unbelievably, do not match up each other in strictly proper linear systems. For the analysis, a diagram analysis is newly created (whi...

Minimum cost input/output design for large-scale linear structural systems

In this paper, we provide optimal solutions to two different (but related) input/output design problems involving large-scale linear dynamical systems, where the cost associated to each directly actuated/measured state variable can take different values, but is independent of the labeled input/output variable. Under these conditions, we first aim to determine and characterize the input/output p...

Multi-objective optimization of two hybrid power generation systems for optimum selection of SOFC reactants heat exchangers mid-temperatures

Increasing efficiency and decreasing cost are the main purposes in the design of the power generation systems. In this study two hybrid systems: solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)-gas turbine (GT) and SOFC-GT-steam turbine (ST); are considered. Increasing the SOFC input temperature causes thermodynamics improvement in the hybrid system operation. For this purpose, using two set of SOFC reactants heat...

Selection of Variables for Regulatory Control Using Pole Vectors

This paper consider control structure design using the information given in the pole vectors. It is shown how the input and output pole vectors are related to the minimum input energy needed to stabilize a given unstable mode using one Single Input Single Output (SISO) control loop. The paper also look at stable but slow modes which need to be shifted further into the Left Half Plane (LHP) usin...
